Boxes & Packaging
The boxes, bags, and presentation pieces that accompanied Blanton’s through the years.
Early boxes
An early Single Barrel carton was used primarily in 1987. A window-style box followed during the late 1980s.
Japanese gift boxes
Early-to-mid-1990s Japanese gift sets used two-piece boxes for Single Barrel, Takara Red, Takara Black, and Takara Gold. Collectors call the purple-lined example the “coffin box.”
Derby boxes · First generation
Horse-racing scenes appeared on boxes for Japanese and duty-free markets from the mid-1990s into the early 2000s.
Derby boxes · Second generation
Late-1990s, top-opening octagonal cartons accompanied Silver, Special Reserve Green, and Original Straight From the Barrel. The red carton contained the standard bottling, despite suggesting Takara Red.
Derby boxes · Third generation
A square-when-closed design was used for Japanese Takara Gold in the early 2000s. More distinctive packaging appears throughout the bottle archive.
