Collector Details

The expression commonly called Takara Red debuted in Japan in late 1990. Although officially marketed as Blanton’s Single Barrel, its red outer box gave collectors a convenient way to distinguish it from the original expression. It was positioned alongside the original bottling as a longer-aged Japanese-market selection.

A distinctive Japanese-language neck label was introduced in mid-1991. Its characters, ウイスキー, translate as “whiskey.” The expression is aged approximately eight years, and the bottle label has a lighter, cream-colored appearance.

A new book from the creator of WarehouseH.com

The story of Blanton’s Bourbon has never been fully told…until now.

“Warehouse H unveils the history and secrets of Blanton’s—the most polarizing bourbon brand—in a remarkable story of perseverance, the power of marketing, and the allure of novelty, along with an entertaining take on what many consider to be irrational exuberance. Guglielmi brings a fresh perspective from a position of true admiration, making the case for why Blanton’s is America’s most influential whiskey.”
